DeformedTree Posts: I would expect the saw stop module thing I don't know what they call itto be unique to this saw as it probably was a big change from the US based stuff.

So there may be an issue of getting these in N. So until they ship, and people can verify if it's a new PN or interchangeable with what is used in current N. If they are the same as the US stuff, great, but I would assume no until proven otherwise. Also, not sure what the blade specs are and if you can get blades in the US.

As for the Sawstop brake, I'll just order a spare.

Last year I spoke with some Festool reps and they assured me that the TKS was going to be available her in the US, so much for Reps knowing what is going to happen, so I'll just order from Europe. Since I'll have to buy it sight unseen, I was just wondering what user comments were.

It is very difficult to compare these 3 machines because very few people have them, and even less people have experience with 2 or more of them. In fact, I don't think there's anybody who actually has the new TKS80 yet, though some members here have it on order. I have the CS70 and am pretty much happy with it. I think the pull action is a great benefit. Pretty strong also, though if you cut a lot of hardwood that's thicker than 5 cm you might want to consider a different table saw because then the CS70 starts to struggle bit, but it works, just go slower.

The difference between the TKS80 and CS70 has just been discussed at length, if you haven't read this thread yet it might be of interest to you. Thanks for directing me to that thread.

If you can go see them in person, all the better. If your in the US, 2 of those don't exist official sales wise and the only way to see a Erika if you don't know someone with one is to go to Chicago. If the pull function is not important to you, then the TKS starts making a lot of sense. But if you haven't had a chance to play with a pull saw, give them a good look, it's something that doesn't make sense and or looks silly until it clicks as to the benefits, then you don't want a saw without it.

I appreciate what your saying about the push pull function though and am giving a lot of thought towards the cs70 now as that would give me the most bang for my buck with regards to depth of cut and power. Thanks for your response. I could see owning both, while it would be a bit of a PITA, to have the function of the CS for lots of general stuff miter saw alternativeand then have the TKS for small rips that you need a table saw for, but may not need the sliding table for. But if you need an add on, then just move it over as needed.

Someone like Alex could probably give a better insight on the idea of owning both. Sorry, what I meant by that is you own a CS70, so you are in a better position to consider having both, or switching over. I didn't mean to imply you are looking at getting a TKS, sorry for any confusion.MK: The great thing is that it's not just the two of us working on the TKS 80, but an entire international team. The SawStop technology is the first feature of its kind in Europe.

MK: That's right. The TKS 80 will be the first portable table saw in Europe to be marketed with this kind of technology. It offers us the unique opportunity to make life safer for tradespeople and protect them in this way. And we are happy to keep investing to achieve this goal. That does not mean customers no longer have to concentrate on their work… AS: That's right, handling the tool correctly is key. At the end of the day, technical features like this do make working with table saws much safer — which is very important.

But still, users always need to be careful and must never become negligent. The technology is simply a last resort to protect customers, just in case something does go wrong.

Gregor Posts: I have asked Festool headquarters the single question of 'when' a good while back, apart from the automated 'we got your question and will get back to you asap' Thank you Gregor. We have become a market of "we want it now" consumers. I have NO Problem with Apple's style of marketing, Keep it totally secret until you announce and simultaneously, ship the product - You build up a demand - then immediately satisfy it or as soon as you canbut this constant showing of equipment, then dragging out the rollout for months or years, just drives customers to their competitors.

I consider myself a very loyal brand customer, but I am not sure with their marketing. It's been about 6 months now, has anyone heard about a release date for the TKS? I hope that I am not sitting and waiting for a phantom product. Quote from: Intex on October 30,PM. Bob D.

Posts: Found this interview with Steve Gass. It's a German site but Google Chrome translates it automagically. Alanbach Posts: Peter Halle - If this saw was ever available in NA, given its price, form factor, size, portability, etc. If so, why on earth would they ever do that? Quote from: Alanbach on October 30,PM. I would hazard a guess that Gass made an agreement when if he sold the company that they Festool will not market in NA and that he can continue to sell and support the SawStop line here in NA for x number of years.

Either that or Gass has not sold SawStop outright and has only licensed to Festool the right to develop and market products based on SawStop technology in all markets other than NA. I asked about introduction in Europe, last Roadshow the answer to that question was 'somewhen '.

We all know FT aient cheap. Alex Posts: I think they will make a US model also. They know there is a market for it, no reason to leave it be. I even expect Festool to get more known of it as a brand in the US, because Americans already know SawStop, and a brand with a competing product will be noticed.

But you'll have to wait untill they've made enough EU models. That's how they work.
